High-risk activities and work equipments

Work safely in critical environments and with complex equipment.

In Italy, the training on the use of work equipment and high-risk tasks is regulated by Legislative Decree 81/2008 and the State-Regions Agreement of 22/02/2012. These courses are mandatory to ensure safety for operators working in high-risk contexts such as confined spaces, work at height, and use of lifting and handling equipment.

1 - Confined Spaces (Spazi confinati)

This course provides both theory and practice to work in confined spaces or areas with suspected contamination, in accordance with Presidential Decree 177/2011. It includes the use of Category III PPE (DPI III categoria), emergency procedures, ventilation, gas detectors, and rescue systems.

Core contents

  • Mandatory for: operators who enter or supervise work in confined spaces.
  • When: before entering confined spaces; periodic refresher recommended.
  • References: D.Lgs. 81/2008 art. 66 and art. 121; D.P.R. 177/2011.

2 - Work at Height (Lavori in quota)

This course trains workers who operate more than 2 meters above a stable surface. It includes use of Category III PPE (DPI III categoria), anchorage systems, lifelines, ladders, scaffolding, and elevating work platforms (PLE) .

Core contents

  • Mandatory for: all workers at risk of falling from height.
  • When: before starting work at height; periodic refresher required.
  • References: D.Lgs. 81/2008 art. 77 and art. 115 Category III PPE.

3 - Forklift (Carrello elevatore)

This course is mandatory for those who operate forklifts. It includes theory, hands-on practice, and final assessment. Topics include stability, load balancing, maneuvering, routine maintenance, and emergency management.

Core contents

  • Mandatory for: forklift operators.
  • When: before use; refresher every 5 years.
  • References: D.Lgs. 81/2008 art. 73; State-Regions Agreement 22/02/2012.

4 - Overhead Crane (Carro ponte)

This course qualifies workers to safely use an overhead crane. It covers proper maneuvers, signals, suspended loads, inspections, and daily safety checks. It is considered specific equipment training according to art. 37 and 73 of D.Lgs. 81/2008.

Core contents

  • Mandatory for: overhead crane operators.
  • When: before use; refresher recommended.
  • References: D.Lgs. 81/2008 art. 73 subparagraph 4 Equipment training.

Reduce risks in high-impact activities: train your operators safely and in compliance.

confined spaces
A well-designed training - combining solid theory and realistic practice - can turn even the most hazardous environments
into places where people work with confidence and control. Just like here, inside a confined space module.
